June 16, 2019
Present were Juliet Wright (acting clerk), Eliza Navias-Bell (acting recording clerk), Dorothea Izzo, Auberta Galusha, Michael Wajda, Alison Levie, and Priscilla Tracy
Out of the silence, the clerk read the above quotation.
2019-22 The meeting discussed the minute from Ministry and Counsel regarding our response to Second Congregational Church’s letter regarding the LGBTQ parade. We direct Aubert Galusha, representative to the Interfaith Council, to convey the following statement: “The Bennington Quaker Meeting affirms supporting the love and diversity present in the LGBTQ community.”
2019-23 The meeting discussed the upcoming retreat at Eliza Navias-Bell’s house on Quaker process. Tentative schedule: gather at 9:30; meeting for worship from 10-11; workshop/reflection; potluck; workshop/reflection; closing worship; ending around 2:45 or 3:00 PM.
Michael and Alison will bring a coffee pot; Timmy will bring tin plates and breakfast foods. Everyone should bring a mug and food for potluck, as well as any Faith and Practice(s) they have.
2019-24 Finance Committee has not met to discuss possible financial support for Friends’ Camp; a meeting is scheduled for next weekend.
2019-25 Bennington Friends Meeting confirms and reminds ourselves that we have funds available for members and attenders to attend Quaker conferences and workshops. This is in response to a question about availability of funds for people to attend a Quaker religious education conference at Powell House on August 9-11th. Since there will not be a regular Business Meeting before then, we intend to address any request for funds at a called business meeting when the request(s) are made.
2019-26 We discussed religious education and improving connections between the families and other members and attenders of the meeting at some length, but no immediate concrete actions came out of the discussion. We intend to continue this conversation on future occasions.
