Meeting for Worship on the Occasion of Business
Held at the Senior Citizens’ Service Center,
Bennington, VT

Present were Timmy Bullock, Dorothea Izzo, Priscilla Tracy, Eliza Navias-Bell, Lucie McKee, Auberta Galusha, Marj Davis and Juliet Wright
Recognizing that ‘walking in the Light is sometimes a difficulty, we should see that the point of having a community of faith is that it provides an environment where we can support one another in our endeavors to be faithful. The commitment to mutual discipline as well as encouragement is based on the recognition that the Light is often more clearly discerned by many than by one…..basing a Friendly notion of discipline on speaking truth in love.

The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
2018-29 Priscilla Tracy reported on behalf of ministry and counsel.
2018-30 Auberta Galusha presented information about the refurbishing of the Bennington Free Library Bradford Smith Garden. The clerk will have a conversation with the librarian about the possibilities with the garden and the library and will bring back information to the meeting. Other considerations are Joseph’s research on water protection and camp scholarships.
2018-31 Meeting for business hopes to have a Quakerism 101 course led by Peter Blood Patterson and authorizes compensation. The dates seen as possible are (10/20, a date in November, 12/1, and January dates).
2018-32 Auberta Galusha reported on behalf of the Interfaith Council. The Council is specifically looking for submissions to the Speaking of Religion column of between 600-800 words. People who are interested in submitting something should contact pastorbobwiegers@gmail.com, for dates.

Pastoral concerns discussed.
18-8 Ministry and Counsel recommends allocating all of Meeting for Business to reflecting on the Frances Ross bequest. Ideas that have been offered so far: supporting Water Protectors; and refurbishing the Bennington Public Library garden that Frances Ross supported.
