June 19, 2016
Present were Timmy Bullock, Auberta Galusha, Arnold Ricks, Eliza Navias-Bell, Lucie McKee, Marj Davis, Bain Davis, Michael Thompson, Emma Schmelzer
And in the heat of zeal, I once made reply to what an ancient Friend said, which when I sat down I saw that my words were not enough seasoned with charity, and after this I spake no more on the subject.
John Woolman, Journal and Major Essays of John Woolman, 1971, cited from Interim Faith and Practice
The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
2016-24 Timmy reported on developments for the possibility of supporting a permaculture camp for Bennington Middle School students in 2017. The Vermont Arts Exchange does not seem to be positioned to commit to doing it; Timmy is now working with the Merck Forest Foundation in Dorset. They seem to be interested but we are waiting for them to determine whether or not they can commit to the project. Other organizations that might be interested: Hilldene Farms? One World Conservation Center? Highland Hall Gardens?
2016-25 We reaffirmed that we will hold the retreat on the first Saturday in October and invite Sue Andrews or someone she suggests to speak about food insecurity, especially in the Bennington area, and perhaps suggest a reading.
As were were discussing retreat, we realized that we are also interested in doing something with our communal concern about violence and conflict, and Robert Kaufman’s statement that was read in meeting this morning. We will discuss holding a post-potluck discussion about it.
