Bennington Friends Meeting
Meeting for Worship on the Occasion of Business
Held at the Senior Citizens Service Center,
Bennington, Vermont
March 8, 2015
Present were Timmy Bullock, Juliet Wright, Arnold Ricks, Bain Davis, Marge Davis, Eliza Navias-Bell and Roc Kauffman.
As with all vocal ministry, our spoken contribution [during Meeting for Business] are usually short and concise. Silence ensues before another ministry is prompted, another of us called. Contributions are addressed to the clerk, and, as in all worship, this is not a time for conversation or discussion. We are involved in a God-guided process, not a task.
Living the Quaker Way, Ben Pink Dandelion
Out of the silence, the clerk read the above quotation from Ben Pink Dandelion.
The recording clerk read the minutes for meeting for business January 18, 2015. They were approved and are appended.
2015-06 Timmy Bullock reported on behalf of ministry and counsel. The minutes are appended.
2015-07 Meeting for business asked the clerk to be in touch Michael (the Bennington College student) about his work in Israel and Palestine. We hope he will give a presentation to the meeting and perhaps then we’ll have a discussion with Michael about any joint presentation with the Palestinian student at Mount Anthony.
2015-08 Meeting for business asked that the clerk be in touch with Ann Buffum and Cail Johnstone to set up a planning meeting to discuss the planning for December 2015 Quarterly Meeting.
2015-09 Arnold Ricks reported on behalf of finance committee. The meeting for business affirms finance committees recommendation using the 2014 budget as the basis for the budget for the 2015 budget, with the following modifications: adding $100 to the FCNL contribution, for a $700 total; simultaneously adding $60 to GBICs contribution for a $600 total; and a $50 to BROC contribution for a $300 total. If possible, we would wish to request that the contribution to BROC be used in the Bennington area.
2015-10 Meeting for business authorizes Eliza Navias-Bell to send in the $10.00 check for our subscription to Yes Magazine.
After a period of silent worship, the meeting adjourned.
