Bennington Friends Meeting
Meeting for Worship on the Occasion of Business
Held at the Senior Citizens Service Center,
Bennington, Vermont
June 15, 2014
Present were Timmy Bullock, clerk, Priscilla Tracy, Juliet Wright, Eliza Navias-Bell, Auberta Galusha, Dorothea Izzo, Bain Davis and Arnold Ricks
What is required is a willingness to listen to what others have to say rather than to persuade them that one’s own point of view represents what is right and proper. It also requires restraint. The reiteration of one point by several Friends each in their own way lends no weight to the point. What the meeting must learn to discern is its rightness, not how many people support it.
John Punshon, 1987
Out of the silence the clerk read the above quotation from John Punshon.
The recording clerk read the minutes for meeting for business for May 18, 2014, which were approved.
2014-17 Priscilla Tracy reported on behalf of Ministry and Counsel. The minutes are attached.
2014-18 Meeting for business approves separating our annual retreat from attendance at Yearly Meeting.
2014-19 Meeting for business asks the clerk to copy the excerpts of Pierre Ceresoles’ diary from the book The Spirit of the Quakers, by Geoffrey Durham. She will make them available to the meeting in the next couple of weeks.
2014-20 Meeting for business asks the clerk to contact Sue Andrews and relate that we cannot come to any determination at this point regarding the building on Depot Street.
2014-21 Dorothea Izzo reported on behalf of Interfaith Council.
