Words split apart, Silence unites. Words scatter, Silence gathers together. Words stir up, Silence brings peace. Words engender denial. Silence invites even the denier to find fresh hope in the confident expectation of a mystery which can be accomplished within.
Pierre Lacout, 1969.
Out of the silence the clerk read the above quotation from Pierre Lacout.
The recording clerk read the minutes for meeting for business for April 20, 2014, which were approved.
2014-13 Priscilla Tracy reported on behalf of Ministry and Counsel. The minutes are attached.
2014-14 Meeting for business agrees that combining the meeting’s retreat with the annual New England Yearly Meeting is a good idea. Ministry and Counsel will work on the details of funding for attendance. Our goal is to ensure that all who wish to attend will be able to do so, without reference to financial considerations. Developing a topic for retreat will be taken up after the visit of Jean McCandless and Carl Williams on June 1, 2014.
2014-15 Meeting for business agrees to holding a post potluck discussion in October using the ATypology of QuakerTheology.
2014-16 Auberta Galusha reported on belalf of Interfaith Council. Arnold Ricks will call Sue Andrews about the possibility of looking at the building on Depot Street as a potential shared space.
After a period of silent worship the meeting adjourned.

Minutes for Ministry and Counsel
Sunday, May 11, 2014
Present were Timmy Bullock, clerk ex-officio, Priscilla Tracy, Auberta Galusha, and Juliet Wright
Pastoral concerns discussed
14- 6 Ministry and Counsel raised the possibility of combining the meeting’s annual retreat with the New England Yearly Meeting Annual Sessions in Castleton, Vermont in early August. Ministry and Counsel recommends that meeting for business discuss this possibility, with the understanding that members of Bennington Meeting might attend for two days. We can ask ourselves whether we can use retreat money to support attendance.
14-7 Ministry and Counsel proposes holding a post potluck discussion on Taber’s “A Typology of Quaker theology.”
